a walk through central park and my first experiment with the Mamiya 7ii

a walk led by one janet cardiff. i highly recommend checking our her piece if you are in the new york area. it made me cry.

so yes, leaves are changing and falling - something i’ve never seen before
i’m beginning to like (love) it here?
halloween pictures to come

come drink wine, have snacks, snoop around parsons, and see the early stages of my newest project which involves (1) nature and (2) naked boys.
i will be there if i’m not upstate shooting

and this reminds me
i am always looking for models, so if you are male and interested in getting naked in the woods shoot me an email

i once had a husband named fonz:

one day he disappeared and ran away to his homeland, mexico. i often wondered if he had died of swine flu. occasionally i received cryptic facebook messages regarding his whereabouts.

recently, fonz resurfaced. this time on a farm in jones creek, texas.
as our love is strong and never fleeting, i traveled across the country to his new home.

fonz lives in this yurt:

he harvests bamboo and exotic fruits and vegetables

we spent our days lounging in the shade of bambusa malengensis

and at the beach

located jarringly close to multiple chemical plants

we went to the farmer’s market in houston

and found this interesting piece of … land art (?) along the way

on my last night, we enjoyed a romantic dinner at the local restaurant

and then i had to go, taking with me a goodie bag filled with japanese cucumber and the untamable urge to give up everything and move to the forest because new york, i don’t love you and i have not yet learned why everyone else does.

now i am back in the concrete jungle that is my new home, and i miss texas.
i have more photos from my trip to mexico with my mom, and a few from spending a bit of time in austin, but those must wait.

i attempted shooting with the 4×5 camera that i showed all of you. i took it to prospect park with me yesterday and couldn’t even figure out how to look through the viewfinder. i am not ansel adams.

also, i am currently beginning a project involving male nudes. if you are interested in posing for me and you live in or near new york, please email me at williamson.jess@gmail.com

final crit is over, and my first semester of graduate school has come to a close.
thank god. now i have three weeks off.
i’m going to texas, and also mexico with my mom and some of her friends.
should be potentially awesome? photos to come.

been doing some serious editorial work lately:

yep, hamilton on drugs in vice. again. this time in the august issue with dash snow (RIP) on the cover.
i might have found my “calling”.

oh, and look at this thing i get to play with during the break:

ye olde 4×5. feel just like ansel.

and all of this reminds me:

there is an extremely high possibility that two years ago one of my father’s friends, a meth addict named lawrence, real nice guy though don’t get me wrong, randomly just gave me a huge box full of old cameras that are in very good working condition and include but are not limited to multiple 4×5’s and kodak brownies and various goodies of whose appeal i was unaware at the time.

will report back after spending some time in my mom’s garage in dallas.

got my prints all set up tonight.
final critique - tomorrow at 10:45am.
send good vibes my way please!

i’m actually really looking forward to it.
a room full of people forced to talk about my work for 45 minutes - ha! suckers.

here’s what happens when you compare thomas ruff and gustave courbet:

talked a lot about porn in class today. grad school is pretty cool i guess.

speaking of, my first term is coming to a close. only 6 more to go!

this friday is my final critique. i’m not exactly prepared.
today, instead of working on my artist statement, i baked cookies in a wok.

but tomorrow is another day, as they say.

specifically, as they say in this movie, that i saw this week and highly recommend.

after friday i will post my final images from the S&M project I’ve been working on this summer.
just a little something to look forward to and help you get through the week.
